Invitation to Participate in Study: Development of a management reasoning benchmark for ED disposition

The BIDMC Division of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Adrian Haimovich, is conducting a study about how emergency medicine and hospitalist physicians think through patient disposition. Both emergency physicians and hospitalists are invited to participate.

As part of the study, participants will:

  • Review ten vignettes, choose whether to admit or discharge each patient, and explain why using multiple-choice. We aim to compare physicians’ reasoning with AI reasoning on the same cases.

  • Participation takes approximately 1 hour, and you’ll receive $100 for your time.

  • If you choose to be in the study, you will complete a series of cases where you will be presented an ED note and asked whether you think the patient should be admitted or discharged and why.

  • Attending physicians are eligible unless they practice exclusively in pediatrics.
